What is the best way to care for my Bakos Brothers leather sofa?

Wipe your leather sofa regularly with a soft dry cloth in order to prevent accumulation of dust.
Never use shoe polish or strong detergents to clean leather. Liquid spills like wine, colas etc. should be dabbed immediately with an absorbent cloth. Leather improves with age but must still be fed with an approved hide food in order to maintain its suppleness.

Protected leathers like semi-anilines and corrected grains, usually require little more than a routine dust down with a damp cloth. A leather conditioner can be used to enhance the colour and look of the leather. Avoid direct sunlight as this fades the leather.

Unprotected leathers like pure anilines or pull ups require a special treatment to avoid a faded and lifeless appearance after a few months’ use. An approved hide food must be applied every 3 to 4 months in order to maintain the suppleness of the leather. Avoid direct sunlight as this fades the leather.

Dubin is not recommended as it will cause a buildup of waxes on the surface.

Leather treated as described above will always maintain its natural beauty and develop an individual patina in the course of its use.

How do I care for my cushions that are filled with Bakos Ultimate Comfort Fibre Balls?

  1. Remove the cushions and puff by applying pressure to the sides.
  2. Turn clock wise, left and right, and puff.
  3. Place the cushions back on the seats or backs and if they appear too high, flatten them so that they touch the sides of the arms and the adjoining cushions.

If you do not achieve the desired “puffiness” open the zip and shuffle the filling into the parts of the cushion where it is hollow or flat.

What is the warranty on my sofa?

Your warranty depends on proof of purchase, so keep your invoice and warranty in a safe place as you will need to produce them both in the unlikely event of a claim.

Your warranty applies only to the original purchaser and is not transferable. Your warranty provides for the free repair of the faulty unit, provided that the purchaser, at his own cost, delivers and collects the item concerned to and from the factory.

Bakos Brothers shall honour the warranty on any item, subject to the following:

  • the defect must have existed in the product at the time of delivery and manifested during the relevant warranty period;
  • the defect did not arise due to normal wear and tear, or the misuse, abuse or neglect of the item;
  • the disclaimer in respect of the natural characteristics of all natural products used in the manufacture of the items;
  • the item has only been used for the purpose for which it was intended, in a domestic environment. Commercial use of an item must be specifically recorded and agreed to by Bakos Brothers;
  • the customer has duly complied with the care and maintenance instructions provided with the items;
  • the customer has not altered or modified the items.

Bakos Brothers warrants that all items, excluding clearance and shop-soiled items, are free from defects and are of a quality that the customer is reasonably entitled to expect from the items. All such items are warranted against faulty materials (subject to the disclaimers in respect of all natural materials) and workmanship for a period of 2 years.

All clearance items and shop-soiled items are sold on an “as-is” and “voets-toots” basis, and Bakos Brothers make no warranties in respect thereof other than that the items are suitable for their intended purpose and are of a quality to be reasonably expected from clearance and/or shop-soiled items.

  • The frame has a 10 year warranty.
  • The springs and webbing have a 5 year warranty.
  • The foam has a 2 year warranty.
  • The cushion filling has a 2 year warranty.

What can I expect when ordering natural suede, leather and/or wood products?

The general appearance and feel of natural products will vary from one to the other, which is intrinsic to the beauty of these items of furniture, and creates the uniqueness of each individual piece. Suede, leather, wood and other natural products are unique by their very nature, and nap, grains, colours and other general appearance may vary.

When purchasing any suede, leather, wood or natural fibre products, there will be variations between the product viewed on the shop floor and the product delivered in respect of the natural characteristics of the material being used.

Can Bakos Brothers assist in the layout and design of my interior space?

Yes we can! Our qualified Interior Design department can turn your living space into your dream home. It’s a fully-fledged in-home service available to customers who need it. We offer AutoCAD drawings of furniture layouts to scale, followed by a full presentation of rendered floor plans, fabrics, pictures and colour samples. Our presentation fee is costed based on scope of work and applied to your deposit following an order being placed.

Does Bakos Brothers do commercial interior décor and design work?

We also offer our interior design services to corporates, retail stores, hotels and restaurants. Our presentation fee is costed based on scope of work and applied to your deposit following an order being placed.

Can you make and install my curtains and blinds?

Our curtaining and blind service includes manufacture, in-home consultations, presentations and installation.
